Log4OM log and JT65 log - question

Post by N5INP »

Well I'm trying to venture into new territory. I got a JT65 app and actually got it to start decoding which was nice. Haven't xmitted anything yet though.

But, I am not sure how the logging works with Log4OM (or perhaps it doesn't). If I have a QSO on JT65, and log it with that app (I'm trying out several JT65 apps right now), how does the QSO get into Log4OM ... or perhaps it doesn't? Would I have two different logs going on? Would I merge the JT65 log with the Log4OM log - how. Any help would be appreciated as I do not want to start this without understanding what to do with the log file that the JT65 app writes.

Yes you can log your JT65 contacts with Log4om automatically and the set up is detailed in the Log4om user guide.

What if I don't want to use either of these apps -

JT65-HF or WSJT-X

Currently I'm using JT65 HB8HQX edition.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/jt65hfhb9hqxedi/

I don't know if it will work with JT alert - or do they all work with it somehow - I really am just jumping in.

What about other options like exporting the last logged QSO adif file ( JT65 HB8HQX edition will do this) and importing into Log4OM?

You can do that or if the JT65 software saves its logbook as an ADIF then Log4om can read from that file

Reached another roadblock.

I made a contact using JT65 just moments ago - yay.

I logged it, and exported the adif file. So far so good.

I then imported the contact into Log4OM, it appeared in the database - so far so good again.

But now I cannot edit it to show the mode as JT65. It has the mode shown in the adif file, but when imported into Log4OM, it simply shows no mode at all. I did look through the manual and found no way to add more modes when editing the QSO. I did an update when editing and it updated the details of the station worked but still no correct mode. I'm lost on this one.

Here's the adif file -

Nevermind I fixed it. I turned on the expert mode and edited the Mode file. ;)
