Issue with Alert Configuration and distorted audio

Post by k4em »

My rig configuration:
Apache Labs 7k DLE MKII, using Voice Meter Banana for Virtual Audio for JTDX FT8.
I use TCI for CAT with JTDX, Log4OM & my RF-Kit amp, no issues with CAT.

When I configure a DX callsign using Alert Configuration and a SPOT is received and I get the Alert. I'm getting a burst of distorted audio in my JTDX waterfall. This completely distorts all FT signals for a couple seconds. I traced this to the Log4om Cluster Alert screen under Program Configuration. When I UNCHECK 'enable alert sound' I no longer have the issue. When I press the SPEAKER symbol, I get the distorted audio every time.
In my Windows sound config screen, I only have the Virtual Audio cables configured; IN/OUT. I have no computer speaker or any other audio devices configured.
This maybe a Windows issue, I'm just not sure. This is NOT a big deal for me now that I know how to correct it.
I've been using my SDR & Log4OM for 2 years now, I noticed this many months ago but never really looked in it. That's because I've only used the Alert Configuration feature a couple of times. This weekend I configured about 6 or 7 DX calls and the issue became apparent very fast.
Thanks for a great logging program.

If you're getting an interaction between the audio sent to your PC speakers from Log4OM and other software, then the issue is either with windows or the VAC software
