Searching call by suffix

Post by Iw7dol »

When I insert a call to log or do a partial search, it works only by writing the prefix. If I write parts of the call or the suffix, the search doesn't work. Why? A search for parts of the text as all other logging software does would be very useful.

Where are you searching. Are you talking in entry box?

I know the QSO manager works for suffixes.

Yes, only by qso manager it works. But while I write the call in the ALE, I'd like to see if I work before or recognize the call from a few letters as does HRD.

So would this be for just previous calls worked? Or all.

Been years since I have played with HRD so I dont remember the feature.

So if you typed in "AB" it would give you all AB# calls and #AB calls worldwide as options?

He wants any input to be listed, prefix, suffix /??? and random letters and numbers - can't see that this justifies the extensive coding it will require and the possible impact on lookup accuracy

We already have users that complain about partial call lookups this exacerbates the situation

It would be useful if 2 or 3 letters without writing order were enough, for example from the suffix. I found it very useful during contests when the signals were very noisy. Maybe it would be enough to add the option for those who want it.

We already have a progressive lookup starting with prefix then each subsequent letter performing lookup and listing relevant qso's in WB4 screen

If I only hear the suffix of the call, it would be useful to understand if it is a worked before. That's all.

Here, the example on Hamradiodeluxe:

Ok, I understand that this is too difficult a function for you to implement. Only HRD and other more complete logs can afford it.

Sarcasm will not achieve what you request.

Understand that we need to know exactly what you are requesting and then check if there is a wider requirement by more than one user, otherwise we end up adding many bells and whistles unnecessarily.

HRD is a fine program and has stood the test of time as Log4OM has in the ten years, each has its own advantages!

So bottom line is we will continue to monitor the need for this addition and if other users clamour for it we will add it, even though you doubt our capabilities to do so, not because you shame us into it!
