System Crashed - Lost All QSO's
System Crashed - Lost All QSO's
Clicked on my 5 or so year old Log4OM 3 days ago and ALL my QSO's disappeared. Had been running perfectly ever since I downloaded and activated it. I followed instructions to enter all the "Reconfigure" information. The box then says it "needs a system restart." I clicked all over but did not find anything to activate the reconfiguration. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. Bob W2VGD
Re: System Crashed - Lost All QSO's
Hi,
Give more details.
What were you doing before you lost your logged QSOs.
Was it an operating system update on your computer, was it a LOG4OM update, or something else?
What database did you have in Log4OM: SQLite or MySQL? Did you have the database file on your computer or outside (Cloud/NAS/USB disk)?
Regards,
Piotr

Surely you are not using original I stallation! Always our first question is what is version number?W2VGD wrote: 02 Oct 2023, 21:57 Clicked on my 5 or so year old Log4OM 3 days ago and ALL my QSO's disappeared. Re: System Crashed - Lost All QSO's
I'm using the version I downloaded five or so years ago. All the information was on my hard drive. Did not do anything with my laptop other then just activating it to add/upload a QSO. Don't know if it's SQlite or MySQL, but I think the latter. Everyone's input is greatly appreciated. Bob W2VGD

Hi,
Let us check a few things.
1 Let's check what version you have. Start Log4OM, from the top menu select Help - About. Here you will find the version number of the program.
2. Database. Start Log4OM, from the top menu select Settings - Program Configuration - User Configuration - Database. Take a screenshot or write down the location of the database file. What message do you get when you click on the "Test" button ?
3. If you want, send me the database file by email, I will check if it is not corrupted.

Re: System Crashed - Lost All QSO's
Thanks Piotr
Adding:
open a command prompt (type CMD on search box of your windows)
type: cd %appdata%\Log4OM2\backup
Here you can find all your backups, including the last ADIF saved and the last CONFIG.JSON saved
Find the last "surely working" and simply rename the "yourcall_date_time_config.json" into "config.json" and put this file in the previous folder (Log4OM2), inside /USER folder
Then open log4om (that activity should be made with Log4OM turned off)

Re: System Crashed - Lost All QSO's
Follow up to all the welcomed help....When I activate Log4OM, in addition to the main page, a dialogue box pops up....There's a highlighted box that says "make active," then an * with "requires program restart." I clicked on "make active," but don't know how to "program restart." Tahn you and 73 - Bob W2VGD
