Two clicks required on most buttons?

Post by NN7D »

I've noticed something for as long as I've used Log4OM. When clicking on a button, say the Settings button (the little gear icon) tool bar, I most often have to click on it twice to get the settings window to open. Even if the main program window has focus, it seems most buttons require two clicks. Not a double click, but two clicks - one to wake up the control, then the other to make cause the action. This always happens when I try to detach the QSO Lookup grid, and the Worked Bands grid.

This become most noticeable when setting up voice recordings in the Audio Config tab. With focus on the tab, I have to click twice on the earphone button in order to hear the recording play. I am not sure why this is occurring. Is it a characteristic of the controls being used in the development of the program, or something peculiar to my computer. Anyone else notice this behavior?

Thanks!

Doug,

It's not happening on my PC. I just tried it to be sure. Must be a setting on your machine. :?

Thanks for checking. I think I discovered what is happening. For instance, when I click on the Detach Grid button on the QSO information tab (F7), the new QSO Lookup window opens, but focus transfers to that new window. Then when I click on the next Detach Grid button, the first click is to return focus to the main window, the second to activate the button. Not sure, but would it be possible when opening up these detached grids to programmically return focus to the main window. I seem to remember being able to do that in my prior life. After all, those are display windows and focus is not needed for data entry?

Surely this is normal windows practice the last window that was opened retains focus.

I just tried MS Word and then opened a second doc from within Word and the focus stayed with the second doc until I clicked on the original doc!

I think windows assumes that the last window opened/undocked is still in use until you click another object?
