Again slow QRZ lookup - I may be found the problem

Post by IU0MVD »

Hello,
from time to time I've read about this issue that I've finally encountered on my installation.
Suddenly and unexpectedly, the waiting time to see the station info, move from a few seconds to more than 3 minutes !
I've tried several solutions, including reinstalling or disabling the antivirus but nothing changed at all.
At this point I've enabled the log level to debug and launched a test using a qrz that I was sure to be not present in the local cache.
Observing the log I could see that the QRZ.com lookup took about 400ms as expected, then the 1st qrz image download try, took about 40 seconds (this may depend from the cdn node used to download the image that may be not get pre populated) but the worst thing were 3 tries to access HRDLog, each one standing for more than a minute, the following is one of the 3 tries shown in the log:

HRDLog update status not triggered. Check internet connection / HRDLog settings / CAT running status

The problem in my case, I guess, is that HRDLog is not configured at all, indeed I'm not using it, I've searched in the settings but haven't found any other place than "external services" where HRDLog configuration is mentioned.

I'm quite confident that getting rid of HRDLog will solve the problem, but here one of the product's men should help me to understand how to do it.

If needed i can provide the full log showing the behavior.

Thanks

Program config/program scheduler - Change HRD Log online interval to a few hours or even days

Program configuration/cluster - un check 'supercluster auto start' and dont start supercluster from main UI toolbar

See if that makes any difference

Terry,

General question along the lines of Giorgio's observations:

If I don't have the Web Page Option enabled why does Log4OM have to be updating the Web Page? I've tried to change the interval, but it always returns to 5 minutes.

Maybe some of those Program items could to made to be simply "on or off" ??

Such options might help cut down on all the behind scenes 'heavy work' that Log4OM often does.

Hello Terry,
no nothing changed but it finally took off some noise.

Now in the trace You can see this sequence:
17:06:45.588 Debug: [ProgramStorage][MeasureTime] : ELAPSED MEASUREMENT: UpdateQsoOnScreenAsync Worked before complete | Σ 0:00.8746 | Δ 0:00.0100
17:06:45.594 Debug: [dje_zDHQXNP5USQU3F72NPYQG6U5WPT3Q_ejd][MoveNext] : DownloadImage: Downloading image from https://cdn-xml.qrz.com/c/ei7lc/me.jpg
17:09:23.61 Debug: [DbSqlite][ExecuteQueryOnLog] : SQLITE ExecuteQueryOnLog Elapsed 4

Look at the second line, 3 minutes to download the qrz profile image from the cdn !

Is there any way to disable the image download ?

Thanks

Got it !

it was the image download, once disabled the flag "Show profile image" in the "Info Providers" --> "Configuration" the lookup completes immediately.

So the problem is definitively dependant from the download from the qrz CDN.

Been trying to solve this problem for over a week on and off and finally your post fixed my painfully slow QRZ lookup. Thank you.
