Syncing Callsign Entry between SmartSDR and Log4OM

Post by SA6TUT »

Hello everyone!

When I select a spot in the bandmap of SmartSDR, Log4OM correctly updates its frequency. However, I'd like the callsign of that spot to automatically appear in the CALLSIGN entry box of Log4OM and trigger a lookup.

I had this feature working previously, but it seems to have stopped functioning and I can't figure out how to restore it.

Log4OM is configured to perform cluster lookups and operates as my internal server on port 23. The spots are displayed in the bandmap of SmartSDR via either Slice Master 6000 or FRStack3, and both are functioning as expected.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this issue?

Before I got rid of my Flexradio I dont recall that smartSDR/Smartcat had the ability to do what you expect but perhaps Slicemaster might facilitate that, perhaps ask them?

Its a pity Flexradio dont implement the TCI protocol which provides a much better and easier integration

Thanks, Terry, for your response.

I reverted to using OmniRig instead of Slice Master to see if it would resolve the issue, but unfortunately, it didn't. If anyone has this feature working, please let me know. It's incredibly useful to have the callsign automatically looked up in Log4OM when clicking a spot in SmartSDR, just like when I click the callsign in the Log4OM band map window.

Thanks!

Why would Flex implement the TCI protocol when they already have an extremely powerful API of their own? In reality, I feel Lele needs to implement that into Log4OM.

Yuri has a full Flex API implementation in SDC and not only does it do everything being discussed here but handles all the SmartDAX. So when running SDC you don't need to start SmartCAT or SmartDAX as its all done on the back end.

I have this working on my flex 6600.
You need:

Hamlib on log4OM on port 7820
Slice master with the tcp cat port 7820
Log4OM cluster connected to the aggregated server of slice master (this one I just discovered which seems to be needed also)

Then it will work

Just a small follow up on this subject....

The solution, (Hamlib on log4OM on port 7820 and Slice master with the tcp cat port 7820), works but not always. Frequency changes are always picked up though...

Some notes:

- Always have a panadapter with TX enabled
- Start Slice Master before Log4OM
- Make sure CAT shows as connected

I haven't figured out what makes my configuration so flakey and to work sometimes only. It's a bit frustrating.
EDIT: Just got it working again. Accidentally I had set a faulty Cluster Server port in Slice Master. After changing it back to the desired port and restarting Slice Master and Log4OM it started to work again. I'm not sure if that was a coincident or what.

Cheers!
