QRZ Logging is incorrect

Post by KB3JDL »

When I pull up a QSO in the QRZ log it has the wrong county listed for my address. I'm close to the county line but something is 'picking' the wrong country for the record. In Log4OM I have the "My QTH" set with the correct county... but it is still showing up at qrz.com with the wrong one. Is QRZ setting that?

Thanks guys!

I finally found the error on the QRZCOM side. It was very hard to locate. They have about 3 or 4 different places where you set your grid square and other location information. At the end of the day, the "Log Settings" page trumps every other setting. The county was set wrong there, and that is what was being recorded. I'm baffled why they don't just 'trust' the data in the ADIF file? I checked the raw file Log4OM was creating, and it has the correct data!

Makes me wonder what the point of sending that location information via the ADIF file is, if it is ignored and overwritten on the QRZ server side... :?

Thanks all!

If anyone else has this issue. It seems the ADIF format specification is the following format for county:

State, County

Where state is the two letter abbreviation and count is the county name with no punctuation.. ie St. John cannot have a period.

Seems log4 sends it in format county, state by default. If you override it with the correct format it works.

The qrz.com support guy was a huge help tracking this all down for me!! Now if I do a POTA or travel the correct county will be logged.
