hamlib

Post by WA1SXK »

Morning to the Log4om support group,

I am still feeling the sad loss of my friend and buddy, Mike, w9mdb S/K, we will all miss all your ham radio support, and we will have to see if someone will take over the hamlib support moving forward.

I have been working to figure out how my Elemer Mike w9mdb s/k setup and configured my ham PC (top level down) since his S/K status. Mike helped me automate most of my ham PC operations and has very complex integrated APP Communication network that interconnects all my devices and APPS.

Here is my issue, Mike would install his latest coded hamlib for testing on my system before he would release it, to the world. I have a copy of one of his LAST hamlib Versions, released dated Dec 2024, and I don't want to install an older version or any other version than what I have that works. What use to happen in the past is when I would update Log4om with a new released Version, Log4om would replace my installed hamlib with an OLDER VERSION, this process of updating from Log4om would break things on my station not Log4om operations but other network hamlib communications, and I would have to call Mike for help to replace it with his latest hamlib again to get things working.

Can someone who understands the under the cover's details of the Log4om APP installations tell me where the downloaded hamlib APP is installed in the file manager?

Lastly, just my thoughts: Why would an updated Version of log4om replace a newer hamlib on a user's PC without asking a user during the update, Example: Do you want to install a different V of hamlib?, Log4om, is not the only APP that uses hamlib, and if another APP, has a newer version, then Log4om, should not update it with an older version.
