QSO Archive - Update info changes Hawaii to US

Post by NN7D »

Ran across this today. I worked some Hawaiian stations last weekend for a QSO party - logged with N1MM. I Imported the qso's today into Log4om. As they were imported, much of the contact information was missing, Grid, name, etc. So I opened QSO Manager, QSO Archive, selected those qsos from the contest and did a Update info. The result was it changed the "country" field from Hawaii to United States! My country.xml file is dated today (8/29/2014). All the qso callsigns were KH6 or NH6 prefix.

I also updated the Country file in Settings menu, then tried the above Updated again with the same results.

Thanks,

Doug

Doug,
Let me have some actual call signs, I have tried random KH6 & NH6 calls and they all return Hawaii

Yes .....It is happening here also, had to change back to Hawaii manually. KH6CW is the station I worked.

KH6CW resolves as Hawaii here just fine.

Date of your country file, please?

There is a different behavior if you enter the call sign, in this case KH6BWG, into the Callsign field in the main window, yes it resolves to Hawaii. But if you have that call sign in your log, and pull up QSO Manager, QSO Archive, select that QSO and click on "Update info". it will change the Country to "United States". Strange behavior...

My Country file is dated 8/29/2014.

Thanks,

Chuck:

This behaviour happens in the QSO archive window. if you search for a Hawaii station that is in your log and then update the info the country will change from Hawaii to United States. It is ok when you add the station in the main qso window it will come up as Hawaii.

I am sorry but I can't make this happen anywhere in Log4om, I tried the following

1. Enter a QSO with KH6CW
2. Remove country from QSO and save so QSO is now empty - In Update QSO window click "Update"
3. Repeat 2 above but update in QSO manager without opening QSO - Just highlight and click "Update info"
3. Repeat 2 above but open QSO edit by double click on QSO in QSO manager - Click "Update"
4. Repeated all of the above without removing the country before update

All actions returned Hawaii as the country

Followed your steps using KH6BWG but "update info' results in Hawaii

In Options/settings 1 do you have all of the "Lookup external sources" check boxes checked?

Which are you using QRZ or HamQTH?

What version of Log4om are you using?

Hi Terry,

Thanks for looking into this. I am using L4OM v 1.18.1.0

In my Settings 1 tab, I have the first four checked under Lookup External Sources:

I am using HamQTH as my External source. This could be the culprit...

1. I can open an existing QSO with KH6BWG - now in the Update QSO window, click Update button at bottom, country changes to United States.
2. Change it back to Hawaii, then update in QSO manager, same as your #2, just highlight and click "Update info" - as reported, changes to United States.
3. Change back to Hawaii, then open QSO edit in QSO manager, click Update, changes it to United States.

Again, if I enter this call KH6BWG in the callsign field, as a new qso, it resolves to Hawaii. Does the country lookup code differ between qso entry and Update? Is the Country file not being used for Update logic?

thanks!
