new to Log4OM - some wishes

Post by DK5EW »

Hi all,
I'm new to Log4OM and tested it some time now. I'm sure I have not found out everything but I have some wishes for the future of the log software.

As I'm very active on VHF and need to have:
- a count of unique squares worked on each band 2 -4 -6
- a simple list of worked squares for each band 2 - 4 - 6 as TXT. I saw I can print out a PDF. Yes I know I can make a Google map square map.
- a simple list of QSO's sorted by band and mode and propagation as TXT. So I can find out f.e. band openings ES in the year x on band x.

As I'm very active on EME it's important to have a initial list of EME QSO's (firsts)

In the log /QSO mask I want to be informed about if I work a station in a new square.
I see that there is a green info that I worked the station before.
If I work a station and worked it before I want to see a list while entering the QSO when and what band I worked that station.

Another thing is that I have a external QTH from where I make my QSO's. Normally I transfer my QSO's via ADIF from external to home computer log.
Now I saw that there is a possibility via DropBox to have one log file in the net.
Is it also possible to use Google Drive for that ? I have not tried and not really understood how it works but looks as an fine option for me.

Lots of questions and wishes but maybe simple for you to answer.

Finally I wanna thank IW3MHM for the nice free log software. As far I see it is full of nice options I going to explore in the future but until now I see a lot of nice features. other log software is missing. Also thanks G4POP for his great support !

TNX guys you are great ! :!:

Yes very soon hopefully

You could do this now using the search parameters and when sorted export to CSV from QSO archive

Already available in the QSO info F6 window where it lists QSO's with the station being typed in the call entry field for a new QSO

Yes works with Google drive

GM dear Terry,
thank you very much for your fast answer.

A hint for a new locator would be nice like this: Image or similar sign like the Image

Yep F6 windows shows me a list I worked that station before - works fine !

Missing the EME firsts initial list.

I see that Log4OM is a powerful log software with a huge potential and I'm sure it is still yet one of the best free logging software - congratulation !
I'm still exploring possibilities ;)

Terry,

if you work EME every station you work first time is a initial like G0/G1/G2 also if the same station is in a new square or at DX expedition in a other country.
Here you will find f.e. my EME firsts: http://dk5ew.darc.de/eme.html

So what do we need to sort by

Call sign, band or Grids or all - Explain the sort/filter routines please

Once we have filtered by whatever criteria is required as above then what is the unique part, the grid?

so for example

filter all EME contacts - Prop Mode?
filter by mode?
filter by date range
filter by country, continent, prefix or what?

eventually we have a list of data matching the criteria above - What do we now call unique?

You will easily understand that I know nothing about EME in fact in Cockney slang SFA! (Translation 'Sweet Fanny Adams') so much assistance is required

I try to set filters :

- number of QSO ( initial 1 to ....)
- date
- prop mode = EME
- mode
- prefix

But there has to be a routine for checking first QSO with that initial or station

again a example: (taken routine from VQLog)

gehts a listing like this:

So where is this number saved?

Lets take this conversation off the forum and re-start it on email and then perhaps progress to Skype

The number is a result of a listing.
The problem is to catch the first QSO of a call. I did not find any filter string for it.

yes we can go on by email - I don't use Skype.
