An Oddity in ADIF Import

Post by gi4fue »

Since my ADIF imported from DXKeeper does not conform to the correct spec for the USCA award, I have undertaken the monotonous task of manually inputting all my USCA counties by editing the qso taking the data from the QSL Card. It has thrown up an oddity. I have a QSO with K5GI from 1979 which L4OM thinks is Canal Zone, a deleted entity. I changed it to USA, but it will still not let me enter the county. any ideas?

Hi Charlie,
Hope that you are now fit and well?

The reason that Log4OM sees K5GI for a QSO back in 1979 as the Canal Zone is because neither our historic special call list or the Clublog historic call sign exception lists go back that far so the country file sees the call as Canal Zone deleted. I just had the same thing with another user that had a very large database that went back to 1973!

This situation can be avoided when importing ADIF files with QSO's that are so old by not clicking the "update countries' box during import but instead using the QSO Archive manager "Update country name from DXCC" in the log check up area of the Massive QSO update window.

I think we need to add a 'Sanity check' during ADIF import to stop the import when the "update countries' box is checked and the ADIF contains QSO dates that predate the historic data.

Anyway the real issue is of not being able to change the county!

We had this sort of problem with a previous version so my first question has to be what version of Log4om are you using?

Using version 1.19.00 I have just added K5GI to a test logbook and was able to easily change the county, which was set by the lookup to "CANADIAN", to "Koolsville" and save it. - Then on reopening the QSO for editing the "Koolsville' was manually changed back to "CANADIAN" and saved without issue.

Hi Terry

Yes, much better now thanks, but still having steroid injections in spine, but the pain has alleviated and i am back at work. the doc says its about as good as its going to get... the ageing process i guess.

K5GI is now sorted :D .. I was tryin to edit it usine theqsl tools tab instead of the archive manager in QSO manager lol

BTW i am buying an Anan100 in January, will this interface to L4OM in the same way as the flex, using DDutil?

Seasons Greetings and seventy trees

Hi Charlie,
It's good to hear that you are getting some pain relief and nothing stops the ageing process as I well know!

I see no reason that the Anan should not work via DDutil, but if you have problems let me know and I will see what we can do.

Have a great Christmas and a better 2015 than the year you have had this year
