Actuality of DX Spots

Post by oe4hds »

Hello, I would like to see the actuality of DX Spots from the cluster in the map view.
When I click on Spot in the map,m I see the callsign or a list of callsigns with the band and the frequency. Would be nice if I could also see the actuality of the station, not only by a certain color, but also in minutes.
So for example, if a station was spotted last at 1450Z and the actual time is 1456Z, I would like to see 6minutes ore 6' or something like that besides the callsign or the frequency.

I made a screenshot and added the minutes with MSPaint (so it's only to indicate what I mean).

Is there allready such a feature or could it be implemented?

Some of my buddies use logger32 and they like Log4OM more for most of the features and the design. One of the main thing they miss is this feature. In logger32 a small hint pops up with this info, when hovering over a spot in the map.

Hi, that feature can be added.
As a "general rule" if spot is new (less than 5') you see a soft circle around the spot that increase intensity based on number of new spots in the area.

I have seen this circle, but did not get used to it untill now. I would prefer a number instead of some grafik. Would be great if that could be done.
And when you are implementing that, maybe you could make a setup parameter, where we can define if we would like to see the callsigns of the spotted stations when clicking on the spot or when just hovering over it. So we could just hover around an when placing the cursor over a spot, the detail info shows up. Though somebody would not want that, it could be a paramater in the setup section.

Best Regards

Wow, that's great.

I really like Log4OM.

I tried every logging program, but did not find a better one.

Only thing I miss in every logger program is a good printing solution. I print directly onto the QSL Card. Tried some QSL Card printing programs, but none did it well. So I wrote my own over the last 2 days. Now I have a pretty fine QSL Card printing tool, where I can print diorectly to any kind of card or label and also print up to 3 QSOs on 1 card, Ordering is done to fit the Bureau sorting requirements.

Maybe I can provide you with some input, when you want to add a really good printing capability to log4OM.

My program is only ment for me and some buddies, because I have no time to improve it that it fits all need, but it could give some thoughts what could be nice for printing QSL cards or labels.
If you like, I could send it to you. It's pretty simple to setup and use. Just have to translate the german strings to english (are only a few, so would be a task for a few minutes).

I did some coding this weekend. I will send you the programm for having a look at it, when I have the translation and a short instruction for it in english language. Hope to get this done next weekend.

My betatesters are excited about the litle peace of code. One of my buddies printed over 800 QSL cards this weekend. He did not send QSL cards for a long time, because he has no time writing it and he did not make pileups any more, because this leads to many QSL cards to write. Now he said, that he has great fun writing cards and will do pileups, just because writing cards is so much fun :D

Daniele, I just launched a new website dedicated to the hobby ham radio and specially for supporting the printing software.
I have to make a translation to english and write the wiki. Hopefully I can do some translation and documentation this weekend. After that you can try it out.

Homepage is allready online, but at the moment only few text and this is in german language and the wiki contains not much information for now.
There is a download link though, but I have to make a multilingual version of the software. I hope I can make it this weekend.

The URL of my website is http://www.oe4hds.net

Hopefully I can bring up the english language in the next few days.

Daniele, I am on v1.20 now and I am happy, you implemented my request to show the actuality of the spots in the map view. Looks nice and is exactly what I wanted.
May I ask for another improvement? Is it possible to show only the youngest entry of each station? Stations that are spotted very often, show up several times. That is information that is relatively uselesse but makes it more difficult to see the informaiton oyu are looking ofr.
So my suggestion is, to show each station only once and the display the newest entry in the cluster.
Another wish would be, that the spots are displayed, when hovering over the spot, so that we do not have to click on it. Should be not too difficult to implement. If you you think that some user may not want that, you could make it an option in the settings.
Would really love to see that in one of the next releases.

Thanks and 73
Helmut
