KH8Z

Post by N9BBE »

Chuck, can you add KH8Z to the SCL if its worth it? He's only there until the 19th I believe.
Spots keeps showing up in the default position off the coast of Africa on the map.

Not sure where else to ask this. Thanks....

Hi Jeff,
When I enter KH8Z into the call sign field, it displays everything correctly, even the map. I see nothing in error. :?: :?:

I usually use the Cluster tool. It plots KH8Z off the west coast of Africa on that map. It's the same place it plots spots with unknown calls.
When I click on the spot on the Cluster tool map I get most of the info correctly in the log entry window except the location info.
It is then plotted on the main map (F7) wrong, off the west coast of Africa. Just where it plotted the spot on the cluster tool map.
Not sure if that makes much sense...

After a little fiddling around with the scl.xml file, I was able to add KH8Z to the scl.xml file and then it plots correctly (out in the Pacific)
on both maps. All info is also accurate.

See attached capture of the Cluster tool map with KH8Z spotted.

Jeff,
Are you sure that you have the auto updates for the country file and SCI set to update, because I have not had any issues like this with KH8Z

See screen shot

Hi Terry, hope all is well. I do have auto update turned on and just before the screen capture I posted here I did a
manual update of the county list and the SCL. I've actually gotten into the habit of doing a manual update once
every week or two.

Well I am baffled! You seem to be the only person with the issue!

Are you certain that the check boxes in Options/settings 1 are checked correctly as below?

What version of Log4om are you using?

Yep, my Options/settings 1 matches yours exactly. My Log4 install is ver 1.19. I assume that's the latest.
The country file is dated on Jan. 15, 2015 and the SCL file is dated Jan. 20, 2015. Saw these in the ABOUT window when looking for the version.

Not an urgent issue Terry. Maybe we can meet on skype sometime this weekend. I do have teamveiwer installed also.

I just typed KH8Z into my log entry field and it plotted it correctly for about 4 seconds then threw the plot point over to the default
position off the west coast of Africa. Interesting...the country is filled in correctly, Mariana Is. It looks like the rest of the fields are also
filled in correctly. Last weekend when I added KH8Z into the SCL file it plotted fine.

How and why would I be the only one in the world seeing this phenomenon? :?

Do you have a QRZ paid subscription?

I think you identified the issue Chuck, I just checked and Jeff is registered as a non paying "Ham member"

Jeff,
Either your subscription expired with QRZ or you need to change to HamQTH because QRZ no longer provides the locator information unless you are a paid subscriber
