Inconsistant mode selection from cluster spot

Post by K9DJT »

I'm running an Elecraft K3 and P3. All of the Elecraft and Win4K3Suite software works fine with the radio. Therefore, I'm concluding my Serial/USB comport is operating correctly. I am also using Omni-rig with Log4OM, and everything seems to function correctly EXCEPT for one thing. Whenever I select a spot in the cluster, and double click it, the radio will QSY to the correct band and frequency, but the MODE may, or may not, be correct. By double clicking the spot a second or third time, usually corrects the error. This holds true if I run directly with the radio or through the Win4K3Suite.

I have just discovered Log4OM through the K3 forum and absolutely love it. Great software!

Please let me thank you in advance for your assistance.

Can you identify any particular mode or band that this happens with most frequently?

Hi Terry,

It can happen with any spot on any band. Let's say I select 14.225, the radio changes frequency but the mode will go to CW. I'll double click the same spot again and the radio will then change to USB. If I chose any other USB spot on 20M after that, it will be OK. But if I select 14.05 for example, it may change to CW but not necessarily. It will change frequency, but might chose USB unless I double click the 14.05 spot again, and at that point it will go to CW. After that, it will be OK when I select any other 20M CW spot. But if I go back and select another to 20M SSB spot, it might change to CW instead of USB. The problem does not always repeat itself which makes it frustrating not only for me, but especially for anyone trying to solve it.

Now, for what it is worth. My HRD worked fine with an FT-2000 but had similar problems with my new K3. That is why I started looking at other software. But if I run the HRD through the Win4K3Suite control software it works fine! I tried doing the same with Log4OM but it didn't help. Log4OM reacts the same either direct to the K3 or through Win4K3Suite. Elecraft says they are OK because all their software works fine with the K3, which it does.

I would really like to switch to Log4OM but unable to because of the compatibility issue. I sincerely hope a solution can be found.

Thanks for the response. It is appreciated.

Thank you, but changing the Polling rate to 100 did not help.

Protocol used by Log4OM to communicate with omnirig is the same for all rigs. It's up to omnirig to send the correct sequence of informations.

Anyway, as soon as Terry receive the logfile i would be glad to check it too, in order to identify flaws in the code, if any.

Hi friends of LOG4OM,

I can confirm this behavior with my K3/P3 system as already described by Gary. I would be very interested in any solution of this item.
