I have been playing with the WinKeyer setup and it seems to function quite well. A welcome addition to Log4OM. I have been testing with both a Winkeyer version 1 and version 2. Specifically the version 1 is from a RigExpert Plus interface and the version 2 is from a K1EL WinKeyer USB. The version 1 device reports itself as version 10 and the version 2 identifies itself as version 23. I believe those are the latest and greatest version of these devices.
I have noticed something unusual with either unit when using the speed POT. For example, if I set the minimum speed to 5 WPM and the maximum speed to 40 WPM and start the Log4OM WinKeyer I noticed a discrepancy when adjusting the speed pot. The low end is always good, 5 WPM, but the high end always adjusts up 5 WPM higher or 45 WPM. It makes no difference where I set the min/max selection, it always will run 5 WPM higher on the maximum end.
Further checking turned up something else. Using the version 2 keyer, and with it running, if I drop the maximum speed down 1 WPM, lets say to 39 WPM, and then go back to 40 WPM , the speed pot seems to follow and the speed is correct. However, if I stop and start the WinKeyer Log4OM interface, the original observation returns. High end 5 WPM higher than specified.
I tried to reproduce the same thing with the version 1 keyer. While running if I drop the speed by 1 WPM and either leave it set there or return it to the original speed setting, the keyer window shows that the device is always busy and you cannot adjust the speed until you stop and start again.
I suspect that changing the min/max speed while running is an invalid operation although I found it interesting that it seemed to temporarily correct the version 2 keyer while the version 1 keyer got stuck in its last setting.
This is probably not a big deal but I thought I would point it out and I wonder if anyone else has seen this.
Thanks and 73.

Re: WinKeyer Operation
Hi Jim,
Protocols for wk1, 2 and 3 are a bit different.
I have winkeyer v. 3 and old chip from version 2 (I can change chip to test but not too often, obviously) but I don't have a winkeyer 1 to check.
I will check this part on wk manual to see of I can find a glitch.
