Update QSO box, QSL information tab

Post by G4DWV »

After over 6 months on the air, have just written my first paper QSL card - it's just laziness, no other reason.

So I used the QSL info tab for the first time today, made some changes and hit 'save and exit' to find that the changes were not saved. Then realised I had to update and then save. I think the save should automatically update.

Please provide a step by step description of what you did and illustrate it with screen shots so that I can fully evaluate your issue.

Seem to be working as expected now - damn computers <g>.

One other thing I would be grateful if you could help with. I am starting doing some paper QSLs and like to have the QSOs sorted in ascending date order, viz oldest first. Every time I save a change the sort changes to descending date order and one has to click on the column head twice in this situation to return it to the desired sort - the arrow remains correct for the ascending order but the order has changed. Is there anyway to keep the sort as ascending?

We purposely print in alphabetical order because that is what is required by the bureaux

I am not working with alphabetical sorting at all Terry. I am not printing either, I am dealing with a large backlog of QSLs that I need to write. I am starting/want to start with the oldest first and work my way through them oldest > latest; that is the most fair way to deal with them. Once I have done that I would sort as per bureau requests.

I am sorting my QSOs by date, oldest first at the top of the list. Once I have updated a QSO, the QSOs stay in date order, but flip to reversed so that the latest is at the top - at this point the little arrow is still pointing up (indicating ascending order in error). I then have to click the column header (QSO date) twice to change the sort order back again (the first click does nothing except highlight the first item and correct the arrow to reflect the current sort order, only the second click actually sorts the order).

If you would like a screencast to show what I mean, I'll be more than happy to oblige.

Guy,
I misunderstood your first posting, my apologies

Yes I can see what you mean and we have addressed some of the sort and refresh issues in the next release

When you say that you have updated the QSO, what are you updating the QSL sent status or something else?

Terry, yes, I am updating the QSL status (send, date sent and send via...). By 'next release' do you mean v2 or another release in the v1 line?

Guy,
Yes in the V1 line we have a choice to suspend the refresh while editing which we probably could extend to the QSO window.

Moving on!

Do I understand that you are sorting the incoming QSL cards into date received order, then hand writing the outgoing cards in this order and then updating the QSL sent status by editing from either the recent QSO window or the archive manager window?

I have sorted the files in QSL Management window (having searched for no QSL sent - but this does not affect the issue, using a search result window). I then double click the callsign which opens an Update QSO window. I change the relevant fields in the QSL Information tab, then click 'save and exit'. I have attached a screenshot of my Log4OM working space in the hope that it clarifies my ramblings.

Guy,
Should you so desire, it would be faster if you just typed the call into the search field at the top left and then click the enter key on the keyboard or the "Search" button adjacent to the callsign field - This displays just the QSO's you had with the call sign, now having selected the required QSO use the Update QSL sent area at the top left.

Somewhat similar to the setting of the QSL received status described at 5.10 minutes into this video https://youtu.be/2VL1k0pOJUA
