Hi community,

i know that this is NOT an L4O problem but i have problems to connect my microHAM CW Keyer after a new start of my PC.

First of all my PC description:

Quadcore AMD FX-4100 ( 4 * 3600 MHz)
Windows 7 Ultimate (64 Bit)
8 GB Ram
Nvidia Geforce GT-730 graphics card

The problem:

After the first installation of microHam´s "USB Device Router" Software (actual version) all was working perfectly. Now i made a restart of the computer and the Router software gives me an error message (see attached picture). Then i deleted the virtual COM which was createtd by the router software, closed the software (also the pc) and try to create a new virtual COM. But always the same message as you can see in the attached pic.

Anybody here using this keyer, has it working and can tell me what´s going wrong on my side ???

Like the Beatles sings "HELP" ;) :D :D

I no longer have a microkeyer, but have encountered this type of problem before. What I suggest is you go into the Windows Control Panel, and under System, go into the Device Manager. Within Device Manager have a look at what COM ports are running. If you see COM 10 then right click on this entry and hit Uninstall button. Hopefully if you reboot your PC it will install a new virtual COM port for you.

Hi Peter,

thanks for the reply. I have used another way now. Completely uninstalling the USB device manager, after a restart i made a brandnew installaton and a.t. moment it works perfectly.

The Device manager in the windows system don´t have any COM Port installed when the microHAM usb device router software is inactive. I Think the biggest problem is that the USB Device manager from microHAM creates this port only when starting up. Would be better when this software creating the ports only 1 time if you install them. Will see what happens in the next days. For now i have it back at work and also after a restart of the system no problems now.

A suggestion for users of the microHAM devices. Start the router software first before you use your favorite logger or contest logger. If you start the logger first he will not see the winkeyer com port. This port is only created if the microHAM device router software has been started.

72´s ... :D :D

Juergen,
Set the Microham to auto start before Log4om in the Log4om options, use a 15 second setting

Hi Terry,

i am always starting the mocroHAM router b4 i start L4O or my favourite contest logger. It was only a suggestion for the OM´s/YL´s which use this device .... Meanwhile i have the microHAM USB device router software in autostart. So it works for me at the moment. The better way (for microHAM) was that a createtd virtual COM port was fixed in the system and not new created when the software is started and loss when the software is shutted down.

In the moment it works .... but if i have the same problem in the future i will send an eMail to microHAM that it was easier when the software creates static "virtual COM ports" in the system and not a new COM port installation after a new PC or Software startup.

When it works it is working nice with L4O (and favourite contest logger software) Winkeyer function ... So not a L4O problem, only a microHAM problem ....

Or a problem of an Old Man HI HI :D :D
