Power levels below 1 watt

Are there any plans to include support display and saving of power levels below 1 watt, such as 0.1w or 0.005 watts, etc?

For some people who really enjoy using QRPP, and for those that use modes like JT65 and/or JT9 which support such low power levels, it would be useful to support saving this info.

Thanks in advance and 73,

Hi Dave,
Data received from JT65 and JT9 is recorded correctly already :D

However we need to add QRP power level logging in Log4OM

I need to check the field in the database.
If i remember well is an INTEGER. In that case i can change it, but requires a release and some changes in the code and database structure.

Tried out the program yesterday. As QRP-operator this is something that would not let me want to use this program (so very important)
I understand it is not very easy to change an int to float everywhere, but maybe you could add a field to calculate the real power.
If you add a combobox with nano-, micro-, milli-, watt, kilo- and megawatt and take as values for those -9, -6, -3, 0, 3, 6 (default 0) the user can still use an int for the Trx/Rx Power field, e.g. 20, but in addition to it with a -3 it will be 20 milliWatt and you can use a calculated field in the grid for sorting.

Maybe the overview of worked/confirmed etc could also be expanded with worked under x W or so.

The sub one watt issue has I believe now been resolved for the next release.

I don't understand your comment about worked/confirmed please explain in mor detail

next release will have a "new" field able to store power with 3 decimals (milliwatt).
This field will be an additional, non adif compliant, value that will be set with the "standard" TX_POWER field.
RX_POWER will be duplicated too.

Do we realistically should provide ability to store values lesser than one milliwatt?

As I do have QSO's in my log with 20 mW, yes. Otherwise they will be listed as 0 W.
With the increasing popularity of modes like JT65A people will want to use lower power also.

The worked/confirmed part I talked about is like the normal screen with DXCC worked/confirmed Ph/CW/Digi (or others like WAS/IOTA)
But with the possibility to show only those worked under e.g. 5W
In other words if I would have had worked OZ with 100 W during a contest or so I would like to know if I have worked OZ also QRP
(Did you know there is a QRP-DXCC award as well ?)

The question was do we need to go lower than 1mw

We have stated already that the next release will allow sub 1 watt entries like 20mw but do we need to go lower than 1 mw?

Now I understand and yes thats a good idea so I will add it to our Mantis list, thank you for the input.

Oh really! :o

Yes we do know that there is a QRP-DXCC award and also many other such QRP awards, FYI I also work QRP with several of my home-brew CW only QRP radios and even with them while HF Packing despite my being 74 years of age :D

Meanwhile you could use the search parameters in the QSO Archive manager to search for all QSO's where TX Power is less than 5 watts (TXPwr<5) this would provide a filtered list which could then be filtered further for QSL status or whatever other parameters you wish to apply.

Admittedly this will not display and awards grid  but it might help you while you wait for such filtering in the awards statistics :D
