I will soon be moving to a temporary QTH before moving to a new, final QTH. About 450 miles to the temporary location and then another 60 miles to the final one. I suppose I could generate a new logbook for each new location. But I have a few questions when it comes to ARRL WAS and DXCC awards. I'm basing my comments and questions upon my understanding of the ARRL rules.
Let's start with the WAS award. As I understand Rule 4, if I move more than 50 miles I will need to start over again for WAS. So moving from my present QTH to the temporary QTH would start the clock ticking for earning WAS at that location. When I move to my new, permanent QTH (60 miles away) I would have to start again. That seems simple.
The DXCC award, from what I understand, is handled differently. Section 1, Rule 9 seems to state that all contacts must be made from the same DXCC entity. So no matter where I move in the US (or perhaps US mainland) any new DXCC contacts that I would make at my temporary QTH or new permanent QTH would get added to my existing count. Please correct me if I am wrong on that understanding.
If my understanding of the DXCC award is correct and I'm looking at potentially 3 different logs, how do I roll them all together for award DXCC award tracking?
I suspect that I am making this more difficult than it should be but I haven't found an answer to this yet. If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be appreciated.
Thanks and 73.

Re: Logging, awards and a new QTH
No need for new log for each location just change your station details (QTH, Locator etc)W1RET wrote:I will soon be moving to a temporary QTH before moving to a new, final QTH. As above but you need to contact WAS to find out what's required by themLet's start with the WAS award. As I understand Rule 4, if I move more than 50 miles I will need to start over again for WAS. No just one logbook the ADIF upload will contain the address change but we need to add a small user selection to slow for selection of a range in the display which should be easy. Uploads are no problem because it's already thereIf my understanding of the WAS award is correct and I'm looking at potentially 3 different logs, how do I roll them all together for award DXCC award tracking

Re: Logging, awards and a new QTH
There is a small flaw in what terry said.
If you move and your WAS records will become unuseable you should have a different log to avoid WAS informations mixed all together (old and new).
An alternative could be adding another parameter to WAS award to be able to select only locators you want to use...

But as he uploads if he sorts by either the new QTH or date of move then the upload is correctIW3HMH wrote:There is a small flaw in what terry said.

Terry and Lele,
Sorry for not responding earlier but am quite busy packing, sorting and disposing of items getting ready for our move.
The good news is that I won't be at the temporary QTH for another week and probably not on the air until the following week. So that will give me some time to digest your responses. I'm not sure if what I'm doing would have an effect on any other awards. I haven't reviewed the rules on any others as I tend to concentrate more on WAS and DXCC. And the real culprit seems to be WAS.
I'll keep an eye on this forum over the next couple of weeks and see if there are other questions or responses to this. I appreciate the help.
