Email alerts

Post by N8MSA »

Hi -

I can't get email alerts to work; alerts are shown in the Communicator Activity Log as being sent to Communicator (tested via Cluster Spot Simulation), but all of the configurations and services that I have tested result in an "Error sending email" message. I have used Telnet to insure that I can connect to the servers and their required ports and I'm reasonably sure that entering the proper authentication information, so I'm at a bit of a loss.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Mike - N8MSA

Communicator is running? Did you see those email in communicator log file?

The workflow is:

log4om detects the alert -> sends message to communicator -> communicator receive the message -> communicator sends the mail

first 2 steps are logged in Log4OM (enable trace mode from help menu to have more details), last 2 are in the communicator log.
Can you find where this chain broke?
You did the right thing with cluster simulation :)

Hi -

Sorry for the delayed response, just returned from business travel...

- Communicator is running and connected.
- I can see the request from the Cluster app to communicator
- Communicator indicates that it is sending the email; there are three log trace lines up to the point that...
- A trace line appears indicating an "Error sending email", along with a long text string.

So...it seems to be failing at the actual email server connect-and-send step.

Thanks,

Please reproduce the issue and then fill a "support request" package from help menu.
This will produce a zip file that contains informations i need.

send them to iw3hmh (at) log4om.com with a brief note about this ticket, so i can find the issue

Yes, there is a "strange" issue on your main log file, that i'm investigating.
Are you running Log4OM as administrator?
Can you kindly reproduce the issue once again and send me the file named
Log4OMCommunicator_log_<yyymmdd> that resides in your Log4OM log folder? (help menu -> open configuration folder -> open the LOG folder inside the configuration folder. Here you can find the file)

thanks
