I have been playing around with the software for a few weekends now. I seem to have a small issue that I hope can be easily solved.
Our club likes to do live database contesting. We have been using N1MM for all of our contests and recently we have been looking for something different. N1MM has tons of issues and seems clunky at best. So we started looking at your software. It offers features that we like.
Now we like to operate 2 to 4 radios in the field. We like to keep up to date on how many contacts we have throughout the day.
I have been playing around with the MySQL setup, and that works. The issue is, when using separate computers, networked in, it doesn't seem to update. We have to keep going into the setting and reconnecting to the database to update. Seems like a small issue, but overall, it usually takes a few minutes away from operating. So my question is, is there a way to set it so that all the computers will automatically update through the MySQL database setup?
Can't do live Database
Re: Can't do live Database
KE7VLC,
Reading your situation with your club, in my experience, you would be far better off using N1MM+ for contesting. N1MM+ is designed to do exactly what you are trying to do at your club, run a contest with network connectivity between stations. Yes, N1MM+ has a learning curve, but it does because it is so powerful and full featured. I belong to a multi-station contesting team, and we use N1MM+ on multiple stations and it works very well, with so many essential contesting features absent from Log4OM.
Don't get me wrong, Log4OM is a great general logging program, but it is not designed primarily for contesting. Yes, it has some casual contesting features, but if you are serious about contesting, especially in a multi stations setting, a strictly contest oriented logger like N1MM+ will serve you far better.
I hope this helps. 73,
Doug - W7DRM

Re: Can't do live Database
...but refreshing the QSO list should show you the full list.
Also many other functions are "live", as example the "already contacted" feature is made live on DB.
The only things that needs to be "refreshed" manually are STATISTICS and the QSO LIST that is non pulled from db constantly but updated when the user will save/edit a new QSO
In V2 i'll try to make different approach to the database in order to have "pull" features in networked mode.
