Can't delete qso entry, not recording some through JTAlerts

Post by WA9WSJ »

Hello Gents,

Seems that I've encountered a few problems.
1. I've auto logged some contacts through JTAlerts program and they were very incorrect, i.e., the time, date, mode and signal reports! I checked and verified the notebook auto log through wsjt-x ver 2 and it was correct, ft-8. So I edited the incorrect entry and it did save but it won't let me delete the wrong entry, no matter what method I try. I highlighted it and used the delete key, it disappeared but came right back after I did a search for it. I tried the trash can delete, same thing, came right back. I deleted it and closed the program, opened it up and did a search and it came right back! Tell me oh wise ones, what is the problem? Or what did I miss?

2. I've also noticed that it failed to record entries from JTAlerts upon occasion. A minute later it was working again. I've paid attention to my operation and I can't detect anything I'm doing that might prevent the entry log ins. It just happens. So again, why is this happening?

Thank you so much!

We would prefer that you use a call sign as a user name so that we know where you are and who you are

Terry,

After I realized that everyone was using their callsign, I wrote to the 'contact us' address and asked if there was a way to change my users name to my call sign, since you cannot in the profile area, (I looked).
I have not heard back on this yet.

Following your suggestion shown in your picture, no I didn't know about those two boxes, but I check them both and tried to again delete the entry, no luck. I went back to the box location and found them to be unchecked. I rechecked them and from that window deleted the entry. I then went to call it up to verify that it was gone and no, it still exists.

Still stumped! What should I try next?

thanks,

Please explain in detail how and exactly where you are trying to delete these QSO's?

I will change your user name to your call sign

Hello Terry,

Thanks for changing user name to my call.

I've just tried these two methods but no luck.
1. Viewing the 'Recent QSO (F8) tab, I put in the call sign into the red callsign box and hit enter, bringing up the the call to be removed. I double click it an up comes the "update qso" box with all the pertinent info. I click on the 'delete' trash can and it brings up the 'confirm qso removal" at which I hit ok. The call disappears from the F8 list. But when I put in the call again into the red call sign box and hit enter, it re-appears.

2. I tried clicking on the QSO Manager tab, then it "qso archive'. I check the two boxes you suggest and up comes the list again. I find the entry I want to remove and highlight it. Right click to pick 'edit qso with (call sign) and click it. Up comes the 'update qso' window again. I again hit the delete trash can.
Again the confirmation window appears and I hit ok. I close out the 'qso archive' window and reopen it. I scroll to find the call I just removed and it's still in there, (those two boxes are still checked).

I tried hitting the 'refresh' word which does refresh but that call is still in there.

What am I missing?

Thank You Terry!

This action ADD's a QSO with the call that you have entered and of course it now appears in the Recent QSO window which is your actual logbook database which records all calls entered!

I double click it an up comes the "update qso" box with all the pertinent info. I click on the 'delete' trash can and it brings up the 'confirm qso removal" at which I hit ok. The call disappears from the F8 list.

This is one method of deleting the QSO and now the QSO has been deleted

But when I put in the call again into the red call sign box and hit enter, it re-appears.
Off course it does because the action of hitting the 'ENTER' key 'ADD's' a new QSO to your logbook!

2. I tried clicking on the QSO Manager tab, then it "qso archive'. I check the two boxes you suggest and up comes the list again. I find the entry I want to remove and highlight it.
At this point just press the 'Del' key on your keyboard and the QSO will be deleted!

Hello Terry,

Well your explanation clears alot up, thank you! I won't be making that mistake again!

I'm still wondering why those few entries were put in with incorrect information but maybe that was a glitch in the JTAlert program. I've paid close attention when subsequent qso's were logged and they haven't been incorrect, so I won't worry about it unless it happens again.

Thanks again Terry!
