I would like to give the FT8 digital mode a try, but have no experience with digital modes. I am using a Yaesu FTdx3000 transceiver, Log4OM logging software which is connected from a USB port on my computer (Windows 10) to the "square style" USB port on the back panel of the transceiver. I have been reading many posts regarding FT8 setup and use, but have not found an article that puts it all together. I believe I need to install WSJT-X and JTAlert. Do I need to add another cable? What are the setup parameters for the FTdx3000? I have not read the user manuals yet, but I assume the setup information for WSJT-X and JTAlert and Log4OM are contained in the user manuals? Are there any summary guides for setting these up. I have read that synchronized time and frequency are important. Where can I find step by step info for assuring time and frequency accuracy? There are probably other questions I should be asking, but do not know about them yet. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

I am not familiar with your radio, does the USB cable connection also carry audio from the radio to the computer and computer to radio?

Yes both programs plus Dimension 4 to ensure that the computers time clock is accurate
