How do I control my Yaesu FT 891. I tried omnirig. What are the settings in my Yaesu FT 891? Please help. Ram, VU3RCN

Hi Ram,

i don´t have one but first off all you have to check the menu items for CAT in your radio. You may find the
way to check it in the manual of your transceiver.

In Omnirig you have to set the correct COM port for your radio and you have to use the same baud rate,
bits and stopbits like described in your radio manual.

Please! help messages are next to useless you must provide more information for us to help, like the example below.

e.g. I have connected my FT891 to my computer using an XYZ interface cable and selected the correct com port in Omnirig but the cat light in Log4OM stays red - Help please?

You must refer to the 891 manual to set the baud rate and then select the same baud rate in Omnirig

You must also know what com port on the computer the radio is connected to and choose that in Omnigig

Thanks to one and all. I got it connected finally. Here are the settings for FT 891. Choose FT 991 for these settings in Omnirig and choose the enhanced COM port.

You might want to try changing the baud rate in the 891 menu and also the Omnirig menu to something higher to obtain a faster and smoother response, try 19200 or above

Yeah, you are right. It works on 19200bps. 73
