mail alert

Post by ik2egl »

I am testing alert functionality:
for log4om alert all is fine;

for the email notification, I configured notification parameter in the communicator
I am quite sure of the parameters inserted but nothing happens and the activity log in the communivcator does not write anything to help possible problem

any possible suggestions ?

Hi Don,
I have just checked and the email alerts are working fine for me, the Log4OM log shows the email sent to the Communicator and the Communicator log shows it being sent out - I also then receive the email.

Try deleting the alert that you made and starting again and of course ensure that you check the 'email alert' in the green panel of the alert window.

The only other possibility is incorrect information in the communicator notification settings like

Sender address is your full email address
User is the part of your email address before the @ sign
Ensure the port number is correct by referring to your email account
Don't forget to check the SMPT req Auth box

And of course the communicator must be left running, minimised - If you close the communicator nothing will work

Please let us know how you get on

Hi Terry
I did some more test using ve7cc which enables email notification and have a error logging more verbose than log4om.

I did the test with two mail server configurations (gmail and fastweb) on both ve7cc and log4om.

I WAS NOTable to send mails from log4om, while I was with ve7cc but only in one configration (the gmail)

I attached the details and I think the Daniele could help as he knows what mail engine is using in log4om.

From what I see log4om is not able to handle SSL protocol (in the example you provide you do not need to use it, while I need to have)

the fastweb mail server is adopting a more restrictive protolol , and both ve7cc and log4om are not able to handle it: but a mozilla thunderbird mail sw is able to do it (as it handle different ssl and chyper authentication methods).

thunderbird is working without disabling firewall or antivirus
I attach my traces

Same issue here... may be due to the above mentioned SSL...

Hi

I am using alerts via Gmail and it works perfectly well. :D
Due this nice option this weekend I have done 3 new IOTAS.
As I have told it works really fine via Gmail since first day.
Thanks Daniele and team.
