Hi
I have been using Log4OM V1 for three years and now installed V2 and migrated databases.
My operating system is Window 8.1
I have an issue that when Shutting Diwn the Log4OM 2 box is displayed and under that is a box similar to that when opening up, there is nothing in this box and Log4OM 2 does not shut down I have to go into task manager and end task.
I have searched the forum but cannot find a solution that appears to give an answer.
I am not using LOTW at the moment so it is not setup to auto upload but I have gone through the other forum posts for LOTW issues to check the setup.
I have checked that my Windows User has administration rights to as given in the User Guide.
I have checked that the Omni Rig has admin rights.
I have checked that the Backup folder has admin rights.
Please advise.

Re: Log4OM V2 freezes on shut down
Have you created an exception in your antivirus and firewall software for Log4OM? AVG has caused all manner of problems of this type in the past!

Thanks Terry
I have not thought of the anti virus using Norton so will check that out.

Mng Terry
I have checked my Norton firewall and file exceptions and confirm Log4OM 2 - L4ONG.exe is allowed in/out, computers any, communications any, protocol all.
Windows Defender is not active as being controlled by Norton 360.
Norton Antivirus realtime exception added in C:\Program FilesIW3HMH\Log4OM NextGen\L4ONG.exe
No difference in shutting down Log4OM 2 the splash screen and the scroll box stays with no actions and appears frozen and has to be ended in task manager.
My PC runs on a SDD and has max ram and installed with Windows 8.1 and I run Log4OM V1, N1MM Logger Plus, SD, MMTTY, WSJT-X and JTAlert and Fldigi

Re: Log4OM V2 freezes on shut down
1. What other programs are running when you are trying to close Log4OM?
2. Have you checked the Log4OM Log file to see if any errors are recorded?

Re my last the applications I use are not all run at the same time and the issue with shutting down Log4OM V2 and will normally only be run on its own when operating and contest QSO's are added by ADI import.
As I add this amendment Log4OM 2 shutdown screen has been there over 30 mins.

Re: Log4OM V2 freezes on shut down
Achieved a result of sorts, here is the state of play.
Took a clone backup of the SDD.
Uninstalled Log4OM NextGen from Programs.
Blew away all folders, files etc that were not removed with the provided uninstall.
Using regedit function backed up the registry then searched for all reference to Log4OM NextGen and L4ONG and deleted.
Saved the registry and reboot.
Downloaded a fresh copy of the latest Log4OM V2 software.
Install Log4OM 2 and Omnirig.
Setup to 'Run as Administrator' as per the user manual.
My user login to Windows already has Administrator rights.
Run Log4OM 2 and create an initial profile configuration called TEST with own call sign but without a database.
Created Backup path checked backup.
Logged out and successfully shut down without freezing.
Login and open a database called TEST, check backup and shut down was still successful.
Login and configure the cluster and setup to auto start, check backup and shutdown still okay.
Login and check cluster auto start.
Import an ADI from Log4OM V1 into TEST check QSO details, backup and shutdown still okay.
Previous issue of freezing on shut down appears to have been resolved.
Spent some time looking at V2 functionality which is quite significant over V1 although one aspect that not configured was QSL Management as do not want at this stage to cause any issue with that side of things as currently done via Log4OM V1.
One thing that is clearly obvious that with so many functions available in Log4OM Version 2 it is necessary to have a computer with a reasonable spec CPU ideally running on a SDD with maximum RAM and probably at least Windows 10 all these should make Log4OM V2 fly and it will be a great logging application.
A good Fibre based internet connection would also be an advantage.
So conclusion.
Unfortunately I only have a low spec laptop all be it with a SDD and the max RAM that can be installed running Windows 8.1 with only a standard broadband connection all of which are quite adequate for Log4OM V1 but will only allow V2 to run like a dog.
As good as V2 clearly is and all credit to Daniele and Terry right now I can't move to better hardware and will be staying with V1 for the foreseeable future, heyho life is full of disappointments.
