and likewise which interface for the CAT system are you using ?

Many thanks for your comments

Either a genuine K1EL Winkeyer USB or the G4ZLP version, I have both and they work fine

As for CAT control I thought the FT5000 provided a usb connection if so just a standard USB cable is all that is required.

Terry and Dan,

The 5000 doesn't have a USB connection, only a DB-9 CAT jack. The interface I use is the microHam microKeyer. It includes a Winkeyer, as well as an interface for RTTY, and audio between the rig and the computer. This particular model isn't made any more, but there are newer versions of it. I have used it for 14 years and the only problem was when a wire broke in the cable between the microKeyer and the rig.

Hello
Thank you for your comments, in fact I misspoke; I explain to you :

In fact here I am using an external box (made by a French OM) which includes a stereo sound card and 2 native FTDI ports
One FTDI port is used for the CAT (I use it for Omnirig and the CAT System)
the other is used for CW (DTR)

it works fine with Logger32 and Wintest but not with Log4OM which requires a Winkeyer type interface (K1EL)

my question is therefore more exactly what do you use to do CW and digital mode
Jim N6VH replied that he uses Microkeyer from Microham and I think this is the solution but it is very expensive ...

hence my question, maybe there is another cheaper system?
in any case thank you for your comments

Try the G4ZLP CW keyer its is a K1EL winkeyer emulation and we know it works fine and not too expensive

FYI - I use an Arduino Winkeyer emulator by K3NG which works FB with Log4OM

They're easy to build and setup with a total cost of around £10.

Merci
