Unable to upload logs to LOTW

Post by AE4Y »

After many years of successfully automatically uploading my QSOs to LOTW on shutdown, I have been unable to do so since 12/31/2022.

I've created and installed a new certificate with LOTW, installed the latest version of TQSL.exe and the associated .xml file without that having any success in corecting the problem.

I just tried to do a manual upload from within Log4OM. This message appears in the upload screen after which nothing happens until I force the attempt to close:

INFO: ADIF File created successfully.
INFO: TQSL Version 2.6.5
No private TQSL Password set
Executing TQSL with upload

I'm at a loss as to what to try next. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

ARRL/LOTW have had major issues since Christmas and have covered this in their press releases etc.

For now try manual uploads and in about a week try the auto upload again by which time LOTW should be back to normal

Just to make it very clear, there have been no changes here in LoTW and we are not certain exactly what the recurring problem is, but it is beginning to look like some application(s) are hitting the database excessively via some automated processes.

No data is being lost, and everyone’s files are processing normally. Yes, it’s taking a little longer than normal, but as you know, it will recover from the back log. Do not re-send files that have already been uploaded. It won’t help.

This reporting uses the same mechanism as the user access to look at recent QSOs, QSLs, etc.

Analysing the traffic causing this problem is not a simple task, and we’re doing what we can in the meantime.

We have identified some users whose access is involved in this, and they report that they’re not doing anything unusual.

Something changed, and we will identify what the cause is, and have it corrected.

It appears as if the software making the request for a report is expecting a response more quickly than is happening, and then issues another request for the same report. Some users are requesting the reports thousands of times over a relatively short period.

The parameters of many of these report requests include searching a users’ account for all QSOs or QSLs going back to (most often) 1940, 1900, and other random dates.

This sort of thing has not occurred before, and we presume that an error was made in a programming change coincidental with this problem showing up.

We’re doing what we can and of course will provide an update when we get to the bottom of this.

Thanks for your support.
Oh, and Happy New Year!

Thanks for the reply.

That explains the reason why I was finally able to complete two manual uploads (outside of Log4OM) using TQSL.exe.
They both surprised me and in one case took ann hour or so before it appeared in LOTW.

Thanks for the information. I'll be patient.
