I recently upgraded to 2.27.1.0 (portable version) and I have discovered that no automatic upload of th elog to qrz.com etc had happened. I went back to 2.26.0.0 and all is fine again, the automatic upload is working fine

You must have skipped over the Release Notes and many other posts in the Forum regarding the "required" UDP changes with that release.

I strongly suggest you also d/l and install V 2.27.1.10 - https://www.log4om.com/download/

Also there is detailed information in the most current User Guide starting on Page 216. You can download the "current" User Guide at: Help / User Guide / English (force update) ... After a short span of time the d/l will complete and the U.G. will open in your preferred PDF viewer.
