Integration with qrz.com

Post by G4IUA »

I'm a totally new user (started using Log4OM only a few days ago), so this is probably a very obvious question! Running v1.17.1.0.

I have been using HRD for some time, and one feature it has is allowing the input of a callsign (a lookup), then displaying all the relevant information about the station as well as filling such details as country, name, distance, etc. in the logbook.

Do I need to subscribe to qrz.com to allow this to work with Log4OM? With HRD a subscription wasn't necessary. I also see mention of HamQTH; is it capable of doing this?
Also, when entering a callsign in Log4OM, the user manual suggests a message such as 'worked' or 'worked same band' will appear. This doesn't happen in my setup, so presumably I have done something wrong?

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions with the above problems. Overall I really like the program, but I just need a little help in getting it to work fully.

Jeff,
QRZ provide a limited data set for subscribers that do not have a paid subscription to their services and this applies to ALL software including HRD.

an example of data not supplied on lookup for non paying subscribers is the QRA Locator, this is only provided by QRZ if you are a paid subscriber.

HamQTH however provides a complete data set including the QRA locator and is completely free of charge only requiring that you register for the service - It's your choice!

For either look up facility to work you need to set the function in the Log4om 'Options' (Settings) menu

With regard to the worked before responses I believe that you have not selected this function in the Log4om 'Options'

Thanks for that advice Terry. I've set up HamQTH and it works well. I missed the 'worked before' setting in the menu but that has now been corrected.

I really like the way it handles eQSL and LOTW - so much easier than HRD.

Just another question whilst I'm still on a learning curve: I use JT65 a lot, and it incorrectly logs this as SSB. Is this something I can automate? Presumably my FlexRadio 6500 should pass this information thru, along with frequency data, etc?

Use JTAlert and follow the set up instruction in the Log4om user guide and it will log flawlessly.

I have had it running for the last week or so without issue, including correctly logging the mode
