Can't log contact

Update. I reinstalled the program and it is logging again. I'll report back if the problem reoccurs.


Hello All,

Using WSJT- X, Grid Tracker and Log4OM.

Everything was working fine yesterday. Today I made a contact in Iceland and went to log it but it didn't appear in the QSO list. I tried a few more times to manually enter it but it wouldn't log. Tried a few different calls with no success. Exported the adi, built a new database and put it in the root of C: and not the desktop as I had had it (thought OneDrive might be causing problems). That didn't work either.

At this point I'm out of ideas.

Tnx for update and good to hear, but still can be puzzling.

FWIW - I've found that OneDrive, Google Drive and similar are just not friendly to work with. I avoid them completely with my installation. I have my sqlite d/b file under a folder I created in the Windows O/S "Documents" structure. That way I have no issues for read/write, etc.. I have two backup file locations: One is in another folder in the "Documents" structure and the 2nd one is kept on my free Dropbox account. Thus pretty much all my in/out file saving is on my local SSD.

If you get caught with a hiccup again take a look at: Help / Open log file and there may be a clue in there that will help out as well. There are 3 levels of log data. Default is 'Info' and there is also 'Debug' and 'Trace' which will provide much more detail. I only enable the other two levels when I'm trying to narrow down a persistent problem as they can slow down Log4OMs operation a tad.

Don't hesitate to dig into the User Guide and also take some time to watch some of Terry's Y/T videos about using the many elements of Log4OM.

Thanks for the reply Nolan.

I'm typically not a fan of OneDrive as it can hijack files and cause problems with programs however it did save me once when I had a hd crash. I also keep all my photographs on OneDrive as it's handy for storage and backup.

I have been watching some of the videos as I run across areas of the program I'm unsure about. I like the logbook as it is feature rich and most things are intuitive.

I'm a long time HRD user but the more I use L4OM the more I like it.
