It seems that when assigning QSO to award there is no option to enter reference in free form. It would be good to have option to allow free reference entry for two reasons:
1. There are awards that do not have predefined list of references but there is some info exchanged in QSO that determines reference. Example: RSARS award, exchange is membership number : http://rsars.files.wordpress.com/2013/0 ... _v2-2a.pdf
2. If user is in mobile and makes QSO that counts for specific award, but he has not last update ow award definition and has no reference he is unable to properly assign QSO to award. If there is an option to set free form reference entry, he can enter data properly, and update award definition later to match.
This option of fee reference entry should be optional, meaning, for each award it should be option to set if free form entries are allowed.

I can allow a "free entry", but only for supported awards. This is, anyway, a bit risky and could drive to issues when the award is not listed in the award settings.
Everything else should be managed in the usual way, with comments field.
