Configure OmniRig With Log4OM

Post by KB3JDL »

Hello all!

I'm a new user of Log4OM and I'm super impressed with this software. I'm also new to HF so this is my first time using any logging software or any type of CAT at all. I have Log4OM setup and everything works, yay! However, when I installed it I selected to not use OmniRig. I think now that I know more I actually want to use OmniRig. My understanding is that it will allow my transceiver to be connected to both Log4OM and WSJTX at the same time? Right now, how I have it setup is Log4OM (Using Hamlib) and WSJT are both connecting directly to the transceiver (ie. same com port). Everything works, from the standpoint that I have WSJT pushing its logs over to Log4OM, but I'd like them both to be connected to the radio at the same time. I think that is what OmniRig will allow to happen?

I've downloaded OmniRig and installed OmniRig. Where I'm stuck, is the OmniRig config screen in Log4OM really doesn't have any settings, is that because I installed it without OmniRig? Can anyone help me understand where I go from here?

I think I answered my own question. I just switched WSJT over to OmniRig 1, and now both applications appear connected. I was expecting there to be "more to it". . . I seem to have radio control from both applications! Sweet!

If anyone is reading this far... A bonus question: Is it possible to directly enter an entire frequency? I see I can move each number in the display up and down, but is there a way I can just type in an entire frequency?

In some versions of WSJT-X, you can enter a number such as "14.095" in MHz for "Band".
