Cluster info

Post by AB7R »

Two cluster questions.

1. Is there a way to run two clusters at the same time? (local skimmer server and VE7CC)?

2. How is the mode determined when populating the spot mode column, from the remarks? Why is there a Modulation column that show USB for all spots? Sometimes when I click a spot it goes to USB and not what is in the spot mode field. (Ex: JA8KSF is spotted on 20m RTTY for JARTS. When I click it sets the radio to USB?

Tnx so much.

Hi Greg,

You can have more than one cluster running at the same time. Under Cluster management -> Connection just add the servers to your active servers list (you only can do that when disconnected from any server). When you connect all servers in the active server list will be connected. Additionally you can have an internal Telnet Cluster Server on port 23. You can configure this under "Configuration" -> Software Configuration -> Cluster.

The spot mode column usually comes from the IARU band plan. If someone sends e.g. RTTY in the phone part of the band there is no way to detect this because the mode is not part of the information sent from the cluster (except maybe in the comments). So, during contests, people will transmit out of the dedicated band segments - specifically in digital mode contests where the segments are way too small for a contest.

What do you have configured in your configuration under Hardware configuration -> CAT interface -> Settings? Have you enabled "Send MODE before FREQ to radio"?
