ADIF Records Found

Post by VA3KA »

I am looking for a new logging program and am trying LOG4OM.

After importing an ADIF file from an older program only 5000 of the 32,000+ QSO's show up.

Is there a limit on number of QSO's that can be imported via ADIF?

Thanks,

Hi Ken and welcome to the forum.

For speed we set the default view to display the last 5000 QSO's but you can change this to any number you like by clicking in the box at the bottom that says "Display limit (0 - ALL) and just type the number that you require to be displayed.

All 32000 of your imported QSO's are in the database its just the number actually being displayed and if you do a search or filter Log4OM will search and filter all 32000 QSO's

Some users with steam powered computers reduce the displayed number to a couple of hundred to speed things up, whereas power computer users will display all the QSO's in the database, its your choice!

Thanks terry for the quick reply.

Let me explain what is happening a bit better.

When I load the program the following appears:

QSO: 36738 Records Found: 5000
I set the display limit to 0 and only 5000 QSO's appear in Recent Qso (F8)

But after a while all of a sudden the Records Found changes to 36738 and I can see all records.

When I restarted the program the same thing happens.

In any case all records appear to be ok.

Any idea what is happening?

BTW: Looks like a great program. It will be a while before I can try all the features but so far so good!

The 5000 limit is set to reduce overhead that could, would slow down some functions. It limits the QSOs that are dis[layed and does not do anything to the other Qs.

Hope this helps you understand this.

All function related to statistics and other things are fully operative on your whole database.
Only the "recent QSO" and other grids are defaulted to 5000 QSO to avoid latency and keep the interface responsive.

Every grid has a couple of search parameters that can be used to find whatever you need and filter data. Scrolling more than 2-300 QSO doesn't make much sense, searching something on 5000 QSO is also a non sense... Having a grid with 32.000 QSO is useless. If you search something you can use one of the variuous combination of search functions
