Struggling with QSL Manager

Post by KD0ZV »

I am having issues with both upload and download of QSL manager with LOTW.

First on the uploads It appears the proper way to know what to upload is to click sent and change the drop down to requested? Then you still need to select all?

If so seems V1 was much easier.

And if do a LOTW download using the "since last download" the box says Begin ADIF download. May take some time. I would understand this the first time maybe, but it continues to do that.

And finally on the upload I had one new contact and if I use the save log function and create a log.

I dont see anything of value. I would have expected to see 1 contact uploaded.

Here is my log

01:16:45: INFO: ADIF File created successfully.

Hi Rich,

First the uploads:

You can set V2 to auto upload LotW on program close. See page 71 of the users manual to set this up.

Manually, using QSL Manager, it should be obvious which QSO's have not been uploaded to LotW. The ones marked Sent = No and not in Green background. See below. If you are not seeing this view, do you have LOTW selected?

This is because V2 downloads your complete Credit Granted results from LotW each time you do a LotW download, something which V1 did not do. This keeps your Credit Granted status current.

I have suggested to Daniele that the CG download be an option, so it does not take so long each time. Hopefully that option will come along as we have time to fine tune things with V2.

i see two lines of value in your log:
7th line _ Attempting to uploading one record.
11th line - Final Status: Success (0)

I hope this helps.

OK Doug thank you.

Well on uploading that seems like a step backwards from V1. Was a much easier process before but going to hold judgement until I play with it more. Just seems Log4OM should know what has not been uploaded and just do it. I should not have to go find and select 1 (or 350) records. I dont shut down Log4om so the upload on exit really does not work for me.

As far as the download we are talking about several minutes. So if I want to check for new LOTW confirmations I am dead in the water while this goes on.

Otherwise all good. Really liking it.

As a FYI, it takes 6 minutes to download from LOTW vs about 10 seconds in V1.

Not complaining. Just not as nice for me as V1.

About auto selection yes, will be added with the required QSO in one of the next releases.
I'm investigating on the slow download times from LOTW, as it's strange

I mean it could be some my operating style. It appears that some people only sync with LOTW at the end of the year....

But I might do it 2 or 3 times per day. Below is video showing V1 vs V2 process for me. In my case everything I do is automatic except LOTW. I would love something more automated for LOTW. And I would love toolbar icons over menus. It would be nice if there was a way to customize our toolbar with items the user could specify.

As always if you want me to test anything I will be happy to.

Appreciate your efforts. V2 was certainly worth the wait :)

I recently upgraded from V1 to V2. The upgrade was much easier than I thought it would be, and it was a good idea to allow V1 to remain operational.

The only problem I have had thus far is the same as described in this thread with receiving hundreds of "Not Found QSOs" from a LOTW download. It may make sense to have an option not to download all of the credits, similar to the operation in V1. On the other hand, this process is prompting me to go back to my logs from the 1970's (which I have kept) and update my LOTW file. It was interesting to see all of the DX I worked back then!

You guys actually fixed something that wasn't (really) broken! The GUI on V2 is superb, and the new features really make logging a little more fun now. Nice job Daniele and The Log4OM Team!

Dave
