Hi,
I raised this sometime ago when V2 was first released, is it possible to change or default the JS8/MFSK8 RST format in V2 to be the same as JT/FT modes? At the moment it is still preset to 599 format.
Many thanks

Re: JS8 RST Format (repeat submission)
Graham,
You can edit the rst.xml file which is accessible via Help/Open Config folder in Log4OM and having edited it save it as rst_user.xml so that it does not get overwritten during the next Log4OM update.
Simply add a line
at the top of the list in this area <string>JS8</string>
</RstValues>
</RSTItem>
<RSTItem>
<GroupName>JTx modes (JT*, ROS*)</GroupName>
<DefaultForModeType>false</DefaultForModeType>
<ModeType>DIGITAL</ModeType>
<Modes>
Restart Log4OM and selecting JS8 will provide the correct default RST values

Terry,
Many thanks for prompt response, I remember having to change it in V1 but did not realise you could also make the change in V2.
All works, much appreciated support.

Hi Terry,
Thanks for the info on changing the 'RST' to 'SNR'
Works brilliant.
Now I have to find out how to automatically log JS8 calls.

Re: JS8 RST Format (repeat submission)
What software are you using for JS8, is it not one we cover in our user guide?

Re: JS8 RST Format (repeat submission)
Hi terry,
I use JScall V2.2.0 Works excellent and have made quite a few EU contacts in where I was the first ZL ever worked.
Also have now LOG4OM following the trx.
I use a Flex5000 @100W, into a sloping Hy-EndFed antenna @10m.
I now figured out how to have LOG4OM following the Flex by creating another pair of VSPs.
I use DDUtils v3, created a few virtual com ports.
Set up is as follows:
DDUtil V# connected to VSP COM8, the other have to the Flex5000 at VSP COM9
Then in DDUtils V3 ports I created about 5 pairs of VSPs, dedicated COM 10 to DDU and the JS8call to COM 11
Then on another pair COM 12 and 13, I put again COM 12 to DDU and COM 13 to LOG4OM.
Now Log4OM is following the Flex frequency as it should be.
All with all not a so difficult solution. Easy to establish.
Have not been active for donkeys years, but know with JS8 properly set up I am enjoying ham radio again.
Try to set everything up now on a laptop. Have also a Flex3000, but it sits in my camper-van in the Netherlands, tucked away due to Covid-19.
Hope to be able to use it again next year. We have planned again a 4 months tour through Europe, visiting mainly Scandinavia, starting in May, finishing in Sept.
Our last big trip was taking us 13 months and we drove from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia in the south of Argentina, following the Panamericana highway, all the way up to St. Anthony in Newfoundland, Canada. A trip of a life time without any problems going through the South and Central Americas. In total about 54,000km or about 30,000 miles. Last year a trip through the UK including the Orkney's and Ireland. Very enjoyable.
By the way I am 3 years younger than you are.
I am still pondering if I should translate the Log4OM into Dutch. I also have and started of in 1972 as PA0JAG, which until today I still hold. In 1982 we moved to NZ and gained the ZL4RM call-sign. Very handy to have two call-signs.
Ok thanks for your reply, take care. Look after yourself.

Re: JS8 RST Format (repeat submission)
Forgot to mention:
I use VSPMgr to create Virtual COM port pairs, about 5 pairs so far.
Tried VSPE but found VSPM easier to set up.
