I know you're in bed but I've been playing with the program. I still don't know where the correct ITU zone and CQ zone come from. I've changed the callsign in station info - all three - station call, operator call, and owner call, to a ham who lives in New York, and it still shows the same zones - ITU 6 and CQ 5.
You said -
The zones set automatically using your call sign and the country selected
That doesn't appear to be happening. I've checked my info at both QRZ and HamQTH and it's all correct at those places - grid square, ITU zone, CQ zone, everything is right.
I also uninstalled and re-installed the program a second time and it still doesn't do the zones right.
First off - I found the problem. After hours of trying different settings I stumbled across it. It's a setting that I think should be in the station information tab, but it's located in "Settings 1". It's the IARU Region. Mine was set to 1, and it should be 2 according to the maps I looked at. When I changed it, the Out of Band message went away.
I never even thought about something like that, I've never even heard anyone discuss what IARU Region they lived in and I certainly didn't know mine! I've heard of ITU Zones and CQ zones, but not an IARU Region. Perhaps Terry could do a video of how to set up Log4OM, because I never even noticed that setting, and I scoured the manual trying to fix this problem and it's not mentioned in it. Again, that setting seems more suited to being in the Station Info tab. That would clue people like myself into taking more time to thinking about it's setting. Another thing is, the program has so many automatic functions people (like me) might assume they don't need to muck with it. I mean if the ITU Zone and CQ Zone are automatic based off your call, then why wouldn't the IARU Region be too? Again, that could all be explained a bit in the manual.
So, that's the good news. The bad news is that I still have no clue how to get the ITU Zone and CQ Zone set. Mine are still coming up wrong - ITU Zone 6 and CQ Zone 5. I've never been able to get them to change unless I blatantly select some other country like Afghanistan or Peru - then they change. But I can't get them to display any other valid ITU or CQ zones within the U.S. except 6 and 5.
If they are automatic, like Terry said, then they should not have a drop-down style selection box. In any case, there is nothing to select in the drop-down selection box except for the numbers I see - 6 and 5. OR, if they are automatic, and you want to override them because you move, or go on a trip, then the drop-down box should have all the ITU and CQ Zones there to choose from. But clearly they don't offer any numbers except the ones I see. Try it yourself.
I'll probably move the "IARU" option in the previous screen from the next release.
IARU regions are responsible of "band plan" allocation suggestions that are followed, with some exceptions, by all governments where local associations are affiliated (almost every country in the whole world).
Zones are "hard coded" into our country file. I'm planning a change to the data structure to allow multiple CQ/ITU for country.
Anyway you can override the suggested value by typing directly on the field with the drop down combo.
Thanks for reporting this issue, i've take note about that.
