Cannot update/change MyStation info

Post by w1ut »

I have read through the manual on updating/adding new information to MyStation configuration page. I have found that I cannot update it with another radio I have acquired. The information in the MyStation configuration page is static and will not allow any changes to be added. I can make a contact and then do an update to that specific contact, but the added radio only stays for that specific update. All future drop downs when I select the My Station (F4) tab show my old configuration.

Any ideas on how to correct this?

Thanks,

Les,

Have you followed the "most current" User Guide on Page 171. It is dated: 02/10/2020 4:10PM

Also the helps on the Station Configuration panel in User Configuration is helpful. You have to add the radio, antenna, etc.. on the Station Configuration panel. Make sure you also tap the button (actually green checkmark) called Save and apply to save your changes.

They will then appear in your drop-down from the respective field chosen in the My Station (F4) tab.

I just added a couple new rigs, saved them and I could find them in the F4 tab as noted.

What version of Log4OM V2 are you using? Click on Help / About for that information.

I read the manual that is linked to Log4om under the Help pulldown. The version I am using is 2.9.0.0. Attached is a screen shot of the Station Configuration page. There is no + symbol to click on or anything else to add another radio as shown in the manual.

Les,

RE: "current" User Guide ... Did you do the "force download" of the User Guide. That will provide you with the "most current" version. Terry is constantly making changes and additions to the U.G. It is wise to check for that at least once each week. You can also save it to your local hard drive and search via you preferred PDF viewer. Check the front page of your U.G. and it should match what I noted in the post above unless Terry has already put up an update.

Now ... Page 171 has some text below the window for which you provided a clip for. There are 3 bullet points that tell you what to click on to add rigs, antennas and bands. Right clicking on certain elements will change the 'defaults' as you desire. That information is on Page 172 of the U.G. I noted above.

I've included the same clip as you did, but I enlarged it a tad to include 3 bullet points.

Best bet will be to open the U.G. and go to Pages 171-172 for your directions and look at the specific configuration at the same time and give it a go.

Thanks for your help Nolan. I got it to work, but it required my starting Log4om as administrator - which I thought was no longer necessary. When I clicked on the radio icon the SW told me I could only add a new radio in root. That was when I restarted Log4om as administrator and then everything worked. I wonder why running the SW as administrator in root is necessary ... as this seems counter intuitive. This is after all just logging SW.

Anyway, once again thanks for your assistance.

Les,

Not sure I can answer that query. I seldom ever run Log4OM V2 as "administrator". Albeit many OMs and several on our Alpha & Beta team always run with Admin levels. Albeit usually it is related to running the digital modes with WSJTx, JTDX, OmniRig and Log4OM V2. Admin level is required to allow OmniRig to 'multi-task' when both Log4OM V2 and the digital APPs are seeking communications via OmniRig to one's rig.

Most APPs are generally automatically run with Admin Level during installation. I was told last evening and have also read that is a default mode within the Windows world when installing APPs ... it might even be true, but I would have to dig some more.

When you did you initial installation did you just let the installation choose the default locations and such?

Sometimes an OM might select a different folder and strange things can happen.

Also is your installation the main V2 or the 'portable' V2? Sometimes one-off things can occur when installing the 'portable' version vs. the main V2.

I'm just tossing out points for thought, but mostly glad you got it worked out with the "work-a-round".
