Distance calculating sometimes not working

Post by DJ3ABC »

Dear LOG4OM-Team, unfortunately, the calculation of the distance over 1,000 km does not work. Strangely enough, the distance of the call signs is shown up to 1,000 km, but not the distance of the stations over 1,000 km. At the moment I have no idea what it could be or what solution there is. Thank you very much for your answer. Great program, keep it up! Kind regards, Marc DJ3ABC

Hello Marc, distance calculation is working fine for me as you can see in my attached screenshot.
There must be something wrong in your setup. By the way your Grid must be set in the options
and you must receive a Grid from any source. Without a grid in the fields the distance will be show´n
0 ....

Hello Juergen DF5WW, I entered the grid in my settings, it worked in the past. But if I move the map out of the 1,000 km radius, the display of the distance goes to zero. I've added a screenshot. Unfortunately I'm at a loss ... Thank you very much, best regards, Marc

Tried something to find out what´s wrong. If i fill in a Callsign and receive a Grid from
the lookup the center of the map jumps to the grid which was show´n in the gridsuare
field. If i move the map the distance below the map changes. That results from the thing
that this distance is calculatetd from your grid to the center of the map (little red cross).
I can move the map wherever i want but if i hit the log button or enter in the logbook i
have always the correct distance calculated by the grids himself in the log. Distance show´n
below the map makes no difference.

Have also a lot 0f 0 Km entries but all are from import of contest loggers or other sources.
If they don´t store a distance in ADIF Log4OM will set this to 0.

Mabe another one here in the forum has an idea ... ;) ;)

Thank you! It is strange that a few updates ago everything was fine with the distance calculation. I can move the crosshair up to 999 km, but after that the distance it is 0 km. So there is a virtual 1000 km circle around my location / MapGrid. Very strange. I think I'll reinstall the program again ...

Think that is a good idea .... I don´t see digital modes in your Log but think you are working
with CAT ? Also a good idea to run Log4OM V2 and Omnirig as administrator. On a fresh Log4OM
you can use the mouskey popup to say "Install as Administrator" in the german version of Windows
10 you can search the exe file of Omnirig, Using mousekay popup and in the "Kompatibilität" Tab
you can check the box for "Als Administrator ausführen".

By the way, after a fresh install those 0 Km errors wan´t go. But could be helpful for new logged
contacts. You can edit this 0 Km by manual way. Doubleklick at each one of those that includes
a valid gridsquare to open the EDIT window. Then hit the green "Save and Exit". If a valid grid
is there it should be change the distance from 0 to the right one. Have tried with bulk editing
but not works for me with the older contest imports. If i do one by one with the described method
it works. But not interessed to change more than a 1000 contest contacts by manual way, HI.

;) ;)
