Log4OM possibly reporting wrong QRZ.COM data

Post by M0MDS »

I am getting some odd data from QRZ.com

If I look up my callsign M0MDS I get all the right data.
If I look up my M0MDS/MM callsign I don't get the right Maidenhead locator and no country is reported.

I did a test on the QRZ xml tester at
https://xml.qrz.com/xcheck

and it seems to report the correct info. Is Log4OM caching some old data internally?

/MM will not return a grid, DXCC or country because it is used for a station at sea which is not of course in any country and the grid can only be determined by the /MM station providing it at the time of the qso

Thanks for the reply.

At sea in UK coastal waters is still UK.

An xml query of QRZ does give a country and a locater see below.

Log4OM reports no country for the /MM but does report the IO91wo location which isn't quite right.

No it is not I sail the north sea and as soon as I leave the river I am considered to be at sea according to ham radio, not maritime law which includes the 3 mile limit

Of course it does but it's reflecting the entry not the DXCC rule

How does QRZ know when your in the middle of the Irish sea if your outside the UK coastal waters

Official description

"The following notes are made with regard to the UK "Full" amateur radio licence terms, provisions and limitations, and so may vary slightly from other amateur licences.

Maritime mobile operation is defined as operating a transmitter that is located on any vessel at sea. This means any manned structure afloat outside of the high-water mark. Operating on vessels on inland waterways is defined as mobile working, and so requires /M to be added to the callsign, not /MM as for maritime mobile operation."
