ptt hung in cw mode
ptt hung in cw mode
My IC 7610 hangs on PTT (constant carrier) when I switch it to CW. All other modes work fine.I am using Omnirig for CAT control and using the built in USB port. I don't have this issue with any other applications that use CAT control. I assume it is some kind of configuration issue. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

I don't have an Icom so not sure of the nuances for that rig. I think Terry used to have one and might have some input, but I would check out Settings / Program Configuration / CAT Interface.
There are some tic boxes there that may affect such and there are also a couple items to select related to PTT.

Thanks Nolan. Have been through those configurations and tics and changing them doesn't seem to make any difference. There is a RED box in lower left hand corner of the CW window that says "disconnected". I made sure to unplug my paddle from the radio. Seems like it must be some kind of CAT configuration.

Sounds like you're using the log4OM Keyer window, please note that your Icom needs to have a WINKEYER interface to use that window and control you can't expect it to work just using a direct USB cablew7rjr wrote: 08 Oct 2022, 01:04 Thanks Nolan. The keyer function is set to nothing. Not trying to use the keyer at all.

Bob,
There are 3 different Omnirig INI files to select from. You might select each of them to see which may provide a solution.
I recall another OM having a similar situation here on the Forum. I'll do a search for that thread.
Below is a screen clip of the IC 7610 INI file choices that Alex provides with the Omnirig package.

Re: ptt hung in cw mode
Bob,
You should have an Omnirig icon on your desktop or available from your desktop 'start' button under a folder called: Omnirig.
Click on that icon to open the Omnirig settings panel and you can then click the dropdown for the Rig Type and then select the other options and give them a try one at a time.
Screen clips below show where the "exe" for Omnirig exists on my computer and also the Omnirig settings panel where I have chosen the Elecraft K3.

Re: ptt hung in cw mode
I tried each one of the different "rigs" and it didn't help. I switched from omnirig to hamlib and all is well. ??
Thanks for your help. 73

Re: ptt hung in cw mode
Bob,
Good to hear. BTW - what version of Log4OM V2 are you using? It is the title bar at the top left of the Main UI.
What version of OmniRig do you have? The most current version from Alex (developer) is V1.2.
If you have happened to install an OmniRig V2.something or other that version will not work with Log4OM V2. It is developed by an OM in Switzerland and Lele has reached out to him many times to resolve some issues with his code so it will work with Log4OM, but he won't cooperate/communicate.
Ergo ... OmniRig V1.2 from Alex is the longstanding and approved/working version.
Some OMs can get along FB with Hamlib and some have issues with it, but Lele and Mike have worked out many things so it is much better than compared to a few years ago.
