Database default upon startup

Post by n8dd »

I wish to change the database that is loaded upon startup. Despite changing the database in the configuration settings, every time I start up Log4OM it reverts to an older defunct database that I no longer wish to use. I tried saving the setting, and I tried creating a new config with this setting. Yet it persists in using older database upon startup.

In addition, I uninstalled Log4OM, and did a fresh install. Yet it once again included the old database in the config setting.

Any advice? I did search the forum and read the manual to no avail.

It's a pest to manual reload the proper database upon each and every startup.

Otherwise, love the program. Many thanks.

Charlie,

Just going to step through what I do when changing to a different d/b.

I go to: Settings / Program Configuration / Database

Then I tap the 'open' button and select the new d/b. It does an auto 'test' of connection to the d/b, but I always tap the 'test' button to double-check.

Then I tap the Save and apply button that will close the Program Configuration panel. Then I restart Log4OM.

Even after the Program Configuration panel closes the d/b name changes and appears to the right of the green globe at the lower-right corner of the Main UI.

I think that is what I got from your post, but maybe you were not tapping the "Save and apply" button.

I do select "Save and Apply," however it always reverts back to the original database when I restart Log4OM.

Thanks, I'll keep tinkering.

I'm using Log4om 2 v2.25.0.0

database files are:
defunct database file - c:\users\ID\iclouddrive\sqlitefile

new database file - c:\users\ID2\iclouddrive\sqlitefile2

it is an icloud drive. note that the UserIDs are distinct. I can select a new sqlite file in different location, however, the program always defaults to the old, defunct file upon reloading.

Tnx

I created a new database on my local drive: c:\users\userid\documents\sqlitedatabase

I selected save & apply

and the database worked.

However, when I close and reopen log4om, it reverts back to an old defunct database. This requires that each time I open the application, I must select a different database under the config settings. wish to avoid this.

I'm wondering why this setting is not saved as part of the overall configuration.

thanks

Here are my steps for creating a new, functional database:
1. Settings, Program Configuration, Database;
2. Select SQLite as Database type;
3. New
4. locate a new file (either local, or iCloud, have tried both) and Name it;
5. Save

I've done this several times, both locally and cloud based. Each time, the database works fine; even able to import ADIF.

However, Log4OM reverts back to original, non-preferred/defunct, database upon start up regardless.

Please note I Save & Apply after opening a new database; and I Save & Apply under User Configuration.

tnx es 73

Save and apply should close the config dialog, how come your selecting the last save and apply you refer to?

Also what happens if you use

File/open/new database

New

Set location and file name

Save and apply

???
