Logging Clubs and Special Events

Post by WA8MD »

I am pretty active on some Worked All States Awards Nets. From time to time some of the others will bring along a club, and even a special event with them and operate /M or /P in order to offer additional unique call signs that can be applied towards the awards provided by that specific net. We, like most Nets use Net Logger to log these contacts. Net Logger handles things differently than some other logging programs in that if an operator is operating as say WA8AB, and they have a club with them WA8CD, and Special Event W8G. Net Logger will put three separate QSO's on the log. Exporting an ADIF from NL and into Log4OM is no issue. Following is where my question comes up. Lets say I am operating under my call sign WA8MD, and I have my club along WC8OH. In this case NL again logs 2 QSO's, one line for WA8MD, and the other for WC8OH. When I export the ADIF for these contacts I only get the single QSO from the line with WA8MD on it. Each Line in NL has a Operator which would be my call sign, and a Station. My one line would have the following Operator = WA8MD, Station = WA8MD, the next line would have Operator = WA8MD, and Station = WC8OH.

I think Log4OM is reading the two lines with Operator = WA8MD and ignoring the second as a duplicate.

Can someone confirm that is what is happening and give me a hint for a work around, or something I am missing in the Manual?

We dont include the station call in the duplicate QSO checking and I just verified this by a test using my own call and then a special event call for the station call sign but contacting the same station on same band, freq and mode as below.

Where I beleive your getting the duplicate rejection is probably due to the time being the same!

You cant have two QSO's with two different stations using your other special event call at the same time.

They cannot physically start a new QSO with you to work your other call sign, there is always a difference.

If I am in QSO with you and I want to help you by changing to another call, I must end the QSO with you and then start a new QSO using my other call - This causes a different time to be logged or should do!

How are you doing this in the other software by entering the time manually or stopping the clock somehow?

When using Net Logger, I can set up different "Station Locations" Within these Station Locations I list a Station Name, my Station Call Sign, DXCC, State, Country, ITU Zone, CQ Zone, Grid Square, City, Country, /M or /P, and there is a check box to enable a club with Club Call Sign, and whether the club is /P or /M, further I can enable an additional call Sign which would be the Special Event.

When I log a contact with someone Net Logger will log a separate line for each of the Call Signs I have along. IF it is me and a club, there will be two QSO's logged if I have me the club and a special event there will be 3 QSO's logged See Station Setup Screen shot below.

I have searched for a Station Call Sign column and haven't found it

I am exporting adif files to a home-brew logger for backup that also uses the station setup system that allows me to check that a contact was with both my call sign and that of my club. I agree that the identical time stamps is what is forcing the duplicate entry to be rejected.

I went into NL and changed the time stamp by 2 seconds and both qso's were imported into Log4OM.

You need to talk to NL, bottom line you can't have dupe entries it's illogical
