Using v2.3.0 how can I add the “distance” value when editing a QSO?
QRZ sourced information excludes the grid locator as do some longer FT8 CQ calls, but having looked up the locator manually and entered it into the QSO and updated/saved there is still no distance calculated. Is it possible to do so?
Adding “Distance” value
Re: Adding “Distance” value
Steps to reproduce.
Show the “Distance” column in the main QSO table.
Add a QSO with a valid grid locator.
That QSO has a value in the distance field.
Add another QSO with no grid locator.
Edit the QSO to add a grid locator.
That QSO does not have a value in the distance field.
Show the “Distance” column in the main QSO table.
Add a QSO with a valid grid locator.
That QSO has a value in the distance field.
Add another QSO with no grid locator.
Edit the QSO to add a grid locator.
That QSO does not have a value in the distance field.

Re: Adding “Distance” value
Correct because editing a QSO does not update it if there is not a locator to work on when added or edited

Yes but I've said I added the grid locator manually during editing Terry, surely then the distance can be added?

Re: Adding “Distance” value
I think I might be confused here - In your earlier post you said "Correct because editing a QSO does not update it if there is not a locator to work on when added or edited" (my emphasis) - but now you say it doesn't do anything with distance other than when the record is first created?
Can this please be submitted as a bug report or feature request then Terry?
Otherwise what function does the distance value have. Is there any other way to populate the distance value as I can't see it in the edit QSO screen?

Re: Adding “Distance” value
I've the same problem, once I edit WWlocator of previous QSO (for example in the existing QSO the locator is only 4 character ... because I import adif from WSJT-X ....), the distance is not calculated.
Has anyone solved this issue ? Is it a bug or we are missing something ?

Re: Adding “Distance” value
WSJT-x and JTDX only provide the 4-digit grid/locator codes.

Re: Adding “Distance” value
Correct me if I am wrong.
But I think Log4OM only calculates from center of country to center of country? It might use a grid but I think that grid is in the center of country.
Does Log4OM handle WSJT data differently?
